The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval to Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, to offer 25 academic programmes, effective from the 2023/2024 academic session. This development was announced by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, in a statement to the university community on Friday, 17th May, 2024.
It is recalled that officials from the NUC and a team of experts from various tertiary institutions across the country recently visited the university to conduct a Resource Verification Exercise. During this exercise, several courses were assessed in the faculties of Arts, Education, Social Sciences, Science, and Vocational and Technical Education.
Dr. Akintunde expressed his joy over the development, saying, “I sincerely thank you all for your dedication to the realization of the great dream of serving in a university, namely Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo.”
Present at the NUC headquarters in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, to receive the approval were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. S.A. Akintunde; the Chairman, University Transition Committee, Dr. A.O. Olajuyigbe; the Acting Registrar, Mrs. O.O. Fakorede; and a reputable alumnus of the university, Ambassador Godson Echegile.
Others in attendance included the Acting Executive Secretary, NUC, Mr. Chris Maiyaki; the Acting Director of Academic Planning, NUC, Mr. Abubakar Girei; the Director of Academic Planning, AFUED, Dr. Tope Oziegbe; and the Dean, School of Science, Dr. R.O. Sanni.
